Tiny FOAF Image

23 November 2002 by Ian Davis

At the request of Bill, I’ve added a tiny version of my FOAF button, that should sit nicely with all those orange xml icons:

Update 4 June 2003: I moved all the FOAF images into one place

Originally posted here:http://poorbuthappy.com/ease/000615.htmlUm, how can you call something a button when it doesn’t even look like a button? Buttonize it and then, maybe. All of the metadata buttons have retained the same general style up until now, what gives this guy the right to change that style? If metadata is going to be useful, we need consistency, not creativity.

Here’s hoping you’re kidding. There’s a badge for it in a larger size if you’d like. I’ve written up a little foaf article.I’m all for a sense of consistency but let’s not be silly. The small [xml] button is a wreck. And all the variations on it seem to do more to irritate Winer than they do to help users. I ask the rdfweb-dev list for a foaf badge. Ian gracisouly whipped one up. If you’ve got alternatives please let me know.I’m sensing the need for a FoaF image contest…

The article URL got lost in the comment posting. It’s over here:http://www.syndic8.com/~wkearney/blogs/syndic8/archives/000101.html

Sorry, I was in a bit of a mood that day. I actually like the colors and the people/rings concept is very clever. What got me right off was that it doesn’t look like a button. Here’s my slight variation on your original design:http://unraveled.com/external-images/foaf.gifThoughts?
